Welcome !

A'CHEF  is a Eureka Eurostars project (E!9845). It studies the creation of an agile and collaborative framework using HLS tools to generate HEVC codecs with breaktrough capabilities for next generation of TV using UHDTV, portable devices focusing on low power and low latency applications.

It started in September 2015 for 24 months.

This website was initiated on December 20d, 2015 and will soon be updated with details on the project.

Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland, University

The research and didactive activities fields of the SCI-STI-MM Multimedia Group are centered around the design and development of software/hardware system architectures for digital signal processing and communications. SCI-STI-MM focuses specifically on:

  • Multimedia: implementation methodologies, video processing, video coding, audio coding and sound analysis.
  • Telecom applications: media broadcast and networking technologies
  • CAD tools for dataflow based HW and SW synthesis and optimizations: development of CAD tools as support of dataflow based design flows (algorithmic complexity analysis, virtual memory architectures high level data flow modeling) for scalable and portable parallel implementations of streaming computation applications.
  • Bioinformatics: the group has recently started applying its expertise in SW and HW optimization and parallelization to the domain of genomic data compression and processing.

intoPIX, Belgium, SME, Coordinator

Founded in 2005, intoPIX is an independent image technology company which benefits from world-class expertise and knowledge in image processing & compression, cryptography and micro-electronics.

intoPIX enables its customers with leading-edge video and image compression, security and hardware enforcement IP-cores for audiovisual markets. Their implementation in the latest generation of FPGA & ASIC chips provide today’s highest quality, most flexible and cost effective handling tools for high throughput data streams. intoPIX wide range of IP-Cores features compression cores such as JPEG 2000 , TICO, encoders and decoders, video and network interfaces, multimedia and encryption functions, memory controllers, and more.

The goal of intoPIX in ACHEF is to work on  footprint, low latency and power consumption reduction strategies within the HLS framework

UCL (ICTeam)

Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, University

The ‘Image and Signal Processing (ISP)’ group (http://sites.uclouvain.be/ispgroup/) within the ICTEAM institute of UCL as 50 people strong under the helm of Pr. Benoit Macq, head of lab.

ISP is researching image compression and archiving, interactive video streaming, and video analysis for scene interpretation. This research supports innovative human-machine interfaces, immersive applications; and autonomous vision systems (i.e. for content production and surveillance applications). ISP is also researching new solutions in the 2D and 3D medical imaging field, multimedia database management, and secure multimedia transmission.
